Why does my list have fewer contacts than the match count
The match count is the number of contacts that fit your search. A list only includes the contacts it could deliver and pay for. Several things can leave matches out.
#Common reasons
| Reason | What happens |
|---|---|
| You set a lower max results | The list stops once it reaches that number. The limit can be 1 to 100,000. |
| You picked individual results | The list holds only the contacts you picked, up to 1,000. |
| You deselected some contacts while choosing all matches | Those contacts are left out. |
| You ran out of credits | The list stops early and keeps what it has delivered so far. |
| A contact is no longer available | Missing or hidden profiles are skipped and not charged. |
| It is an automatic list | Contacts delivered by an earlier run of the same automatic list are skipped. |
| A contact appears twice | Each contact is added once. |
#Check your credits
Each new contact uses one enrichment credit. Free credits are used first. If you have too few credits to cover the contacts, the list stops and shows the error code insufficient_credits.
- If some contacts were delivered, the list ends with the status
partial. - If none were delivered, the list ends with the status
failed.
Contacts you already accessed through the Leads database in the last 30 days are free. They do not use credits again, whether you access them in another search or in another list.
Note
Browsing, counting and saving criteria never use credits. Credits are used only when contacts are built into a list or revealed.
#Check the list's limits
Open the list and compare its contact count with the max results you chose when you built it. A list that reached its max results is complete, even if more contacts match.
#Automatic lists
An automatic list runs a saved search on a schedule. Each run is its own list. A run leaves out any contact that earlier runs already delivered, so later runs can be smaller than the match count. If the schedule is stopped while a run is in progress, the run ends as partial, or as failed if it had delivered nothing. Its error code is schedule_stopped.
#Counts are not always exact
Some searches, such as hybrid text searches, cannot be counted. Those searches show no total. Exact totals are cached for ten minutes, so a count can lag behind the contacts a list actually finds.
To get more contacts, build a new list with a higher max results, or add credits and build again. See Build a lead list and Check the status of your list.
